Organisation Description:

This is a not-for-profit, para-church organisation serving refugees in two European countries. Most of their volunteers are from a Mennonite background and are typically in their late teens or early twenties. They are committed to equipping volunteers to provide relief and hope to displaced people.

Job Description:

The role involves managing the on-going work of the community centre, which exists to provide a homely, restful environment for refugees who live at the nearby camp. We try to model Christ-like behaviour and attitudes to our refugee friends, and we are ready to answer their spiritual questions. Managers are responsible for engaging with refugees as friends, and being supportive and caring. Additionally, the managers will mentor young volunteers from our partner organisation, who come on a 3-monthly rotational basis. Though not part of the job description proper, openings also exist for managers to do volunteer work inside the refugee camp.

Person Description:

The candidate(s) will be mature believers, preferably with cross-cultural experience, and preferably a couple. They will have a heart for refugees, mostly from a Muslim background, and a passion to pass on God’s love holistically. They will enjoy working in a team, will speak English and be willing to learn German. They will be generous with hospitality, loving, kind and supportive. They will enjoy a mentoring role with young people. The ability to speak any other language, particularly Farsi, Arabic or Turkish, would be a huge advantage. – Job ID – 1856
