Organisation Description:

We are a non-profit, non-governmental organisation (NGO). Currently our focus is on providing assistance to the many refugees arriving on our shores. The organisation is held in high esteem by the government and camp authorities. Providing shelter, clothing, and sanitation are just a few of the many ways in which we are privileged to serve in one of the camps.

Job Description:

Responsibilities include the allocation of housing, bedding and food for newly arrived refugees, site management support, distribution of clothing and other non-food items, manning our information centre, 24-hour gate monitoring and immediate response to specific needs as they arise. The camp is sometimes a volatile environment and, within our frequently changing responsibilities, we need our volunteers to be flexible and adaptable. If you choose to serve with us, you can expect to do a variety of demanding tasks and for fairly long hours. You will also form lifelong relationships with both your fellow volunteers and refugees from around the world. You will witness extreme hardship, be invited into tents for family dinners, go to bed exhausted and wake up every day with a renewed sense of purpose. It will be a life-changing experience!

Person Description

You need to be passionate, called to serve refugees in a demanding context, team-oriented, flexible, and hardworking. While youth is an advantage, age brings great value in the refugee and volunteer environment. We have had older volunteers serve in this placement. Job ID – 1645
